Job summary

L&Q is seeking a qualified engineer to assess and certify heat network assets with a focus on district heating systems. The role combines site, office, and home working, with 2/3 site attendance at Stratford/London offices.

You will lead technical assurance activities, coordinate contractors, and support Ofgem compliance, ensuring timely sign-off of commissioning tests and evidence packs.

Qualifications

  • A degree in engineering or a relevant technical discipline, with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience in heat network design, commissioning or technical assurance.
  • Knowledge of district heating systems, technical standards and Ofgem technical assurance requirements, with strong project coordination and contractor management skills.
  • The confidence to provide professional technical guidance to contractors, developers and non-technical colleagues, and to influence decisions outside direct line authority.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and certify heat, EV and PV assets for adoption; specify remedial works on legacy and developer-built assets; witness and sign off commissioning tests on metering, controls and plant; compile technical evidence packs for Ofgem audits.
  • Energy SLT, Asset Management, Development, Compliance, contractors, developers, consultants and Ofgem auditors.
  • Your sign-off directly protects the Ofgem authorisation deadline and safeguards multi-million pound capital investment decisions across the adoption pipeline.

Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £46,410 per annum to £50,671 per annum (London weighted salary)

Grade: 8

Reporting Office: London, Stratford

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Working Location: Combination of Site, Office and some home working. Site attendance approx. 2/3 days a week
