Cambridge Refugee Resettlement Campaign is hiring an Administrative Assistant to support data management, admin tasks and volunteer coordination. The role starts as home-based with a move to a 50:50 home/office model in Cambridge; 18.5 hours per week with flexible hours and a 2-year initial contract.
The post involves managing Google Drive/Calendar, WordPress, safeguarding records, newsletters, onboarding new volunteers, DBS checks and developing our systems.
Location: Cambridgeshire. Initially home-based, moving to a 50:50 home/office model when office premises are obtained.
Working pattern: 18.5 hours per week. 13.5 days’ (101 hours) holiday per year (27 days pro-rata). Working hours negotiable. 3 months probationary period (+ further 6 weeks if there are issues)
Salary: £13,000 per annum. Initial contract length: 2 years.
Line management: initially Board of Trustees pending recruitment of Director of Operations.
CRRC is at a transitional stage of its development, moving from a charity managed entirely by volunteers to one which employs a small team of paid staff. This is our first paid position. Having come through a period of rapid development in the last four years, we now need to consolidate our knowledge and improve our systems and processes. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in updating our internal processes and data management, as well as undertaking volunteer support duties.
Knowledge of and commitment to CRRC’s mission to welcome and support refugees and asylum‑seekers, fostering positive public opinion and promoting local volunteering.
Excellent IT skills, including detailed knowledge of Microsoft 365, Google Drive, Zoom, and experience with a range of databases.
Diary management & knowledge of office procedures.
Strong working knowledge of GDPR
Knowledge of WordPress website administration and use of a range of social media
Ability to communicate effectively and sympathetically with a wide variety of people including service users, staff, trustees, volunteers and supporters.
Excellent written and communication skills in English, including fast and accurate keyboard skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, managing time, taking initiative and completing tasks effectively under pressure.
Ability to deal effectively with multiple tasks and a range of varying priorities.
Full, current driving licence and access to a car.
Previous experience in an administrative role, including meeting preparation and minute taking.
Experience of working flexibly and balancing competing priorities.
Experience of the application of GDPR
Experience within the UK voluntary sector, in a staff or volunteer role.
Experience of safeguarding adults and children.
An adaptable and flexible approach to working.
Willingness to work flexible hours to include some evenings.
Ability to work primarily from home in the first instance, and in central Cambridge.
