About the role

Are you an organised and proactive administrator who enjoys keeping things running smoothly and supporting others to succeed?

Join the central services team as at Ballakermeen High School and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of a busy secondary school. Working under the leadership of the Finance Manager, you'll support a wide range of functions across purchasing, finance, administration and reprographics, helping to ensure staff and students have the resources and support they need to thrive. No two days look exactly the same, offering plenty of variety and opportunities to develop your skills.

As a key member of a friendly and collaborative office team, you'll build positive relationships with staff, students, visitors and suppliers while managing a varied workload with accuracy and professionalism. We're looking for someone who is adaptable, eager to learn and confident using digital systems. Previous experience with specific school systems is not essential, as training will be provided. Strong communication, organisational and customer service skills will help you make a valuable contribution to the smooth and efficient running of the school.

A workplace that invests in you
  • A competitive salary that increases each 12 months until you reach the salary maximum.
  • Subject to meeting eligibility criteria, the IOM Public Service offers two pension arrangements: the Isle of Man Government Unified Scheme 2011 or the Isle of Man Government Defined Contribution (DC) Arrangement.
  • Access to the Learning, Education and Development training facility, which is exclusively for Public Service employees, to keep on top of your continuous professional development.
  • Discounted access to the NSC gym and island swimming pools as well as 1-to-1 support programmes and exercise classes with qualified instructors.
  • Free access to the Isle of Man Government Staff Welfare Service which offers professional counselling, emotional support and signposting on a wide range of issues.
  • Ability to apply for an unpaid career break after 3 years' service.
