About the role:
We are looking for an organised and customer-focused individual to join our Building Control team as Administration Officer. You will provide comprehensive administrative support, helping to ensure the efficient processing and management of Building Regulations applications, inspections, records, certificates and related correspondence.
As a first point of contact, you will communicate with customers, developers, architects, surveyors and other stakeholders, dealing with enquiries by email, telephone and letter and providing a professional and responsive service. You will maintain accurate electronic records, support regulatory and service requirements, and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality customer experience.
The role plays an important part in supporting compliance with Building Regulations, Building Safety legislation, quality management standards and corporate performance objectives, helping the service to operate effectively and efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills, attention to detail and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service within a professional regulatory environment.
This is a full-time, permanent role working 37 hours per week. The role offers the benefit of hybrid working, combining office-based working with home working for up to two days per week, subject to business needs.
You will have GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) including English and Maths, together with experience of delivering a comprehensive administrative support service. You will be confident using Microsoft 365 applications and possess excellent attention to detail, with a proven ability to process information accurately and maintain comprehensive records.
With a strong customer focus, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to deal effectively with a wide range of customers and stakeholders. You will be well organised, able to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you will be able to use your initiative, solve problems and remain calm under pressure.
The Council considers this to be a customer focused role and the ability to converse at ease with customers and stakeholders adapting communication style to suit differing audiences and provide advice in accurate spoken English is fundamental to the role.
