Job description

About The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our high performing team which provides specialist procurement advice and support to Crawley Borough Council, Horsham District Council, Mid Sussex District Council and, until April 2027, Mole Valley District Council, as a shared service.

Our team has a significant track record of implementing successful contracts offering value for money outcomes and transforming the way services are delivered.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to join the team in the role of Admin Support Officer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, flexible and resilient individual who has excellent administrative skills, attention to detail and who can deliver an excellent customer focused service. You will assist our team in the successful delivery of a comprehensive work programme by providing administrative support, responsibility for the collation and publication of contract information and maintaining various databases and spreadsheets.

You will need exceptional organisation, IT and communication skills as you will help the team to build its communication methods through the upkeep of intranet and internet pages, monitoring and responding to emails and organising training sessions delivered by the team.

In order to be successful, you will need to be a team player and happy to help and support others. This is an incredibly busy service with often changing priorities, so you will need to be well organised, resilient and adaptable.

You will be employed by Crawley Borough Council however you may also be required to travel between the shared service locations (including Horsham, Crawley, Haywards Heath and Dorking) depending on team needs.

Additional information

We work on a hybrid basis, which means a minimum of two days in the office each week (usually the Horsham or Crawley offices).

Willingness to work across each of the local authorities served by the Procurement team which will involve some travelling between the sites.

Employee benefits

We offer a generous employee benefits package, with a range of discounts, benefits and wellbeing incentives to suit everyone.

Local government reorganisation

Local government reorganisation (LGR) is planned across Sussex, with new unitary authorities expected by 2028. While this represents a significant change for councils, most roles will continue to focus on delivering vital services to our residents and business communities. As the future structure evolves, our name may change, but our commitment to providing excellent services and supporting our employees will not. Joining us now means being part of a dedicated team during an important and evolving time for local government.

Our way of working

Our shared values and behaviours reflect the special nature of our council. We encourage all colleagues to put them into practice, whatever job they do. Take a look to see if we are the perfect match.

Safer recruitment

Crawley Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We want to be an inclusive and diverse employer of first choice reflecting the community we serve and particularly welcome applications from all under represented groups.
