Job description

Additive Manufacturing Technician - Weekends
Additive Manufacturing Technician - Weekends

We have a new opportunity to be part of our Additive Manufacturing team in the role of Additive Manufacturing Technician - Weekends.

As an Additive Manufacturing Technician, you will support the full operational cycle of our additive manufacturing systems—from programming and machine operation to post-processing and quality control. Working across a range of 3D printing technologies, you’ll help deliver high-performance components for both wind tunnel testing and full-size car applications. Collaborating with engineers, modelmakers, and technicians, your work will contribute directly to the Team’s goal of consistently being a top team in the FIA Formula One Constructors’ Championship.

You will be responsible for:

  • Operating and maintaining a range of additive manufacturing machines, primarily focused on DMLS/SLM, but also including SLS, SLA, FDM, and DLP systems.
  • Preparing builds using specialised AM software: slicing, orientation, and support generation to optimise accuracy, material use, and build success.
  • Post processing of AM parts, including DMLS/SLM metal hand finishing e.g. Support removal.
  • Producing high-quality, lightweight, and functional parts such as aerodynamic model components, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Performing part inspections, measurements to ensure quality standards.
  • Preparing and managing advanced materials including polymers, composites, and metal powders with attention to traceability and proper handling.
  • Identifying and resolving technical issues across machines, builds, or component quality to reduce downtime.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and staying up to date with advancements in AM technologies and processes.
  • Supporting documentation efforts, ensuring build programming, process records, and quality checks are accurately logged.
  • Working collaboratively with design and manufacturing teams to advise on feasibility and improve part designs.
  • Supporting the delivery of projects on time, ensuring consistent quality across the department.
  • Working proactively and professionally within the team, and supporting the broader objectives of the AM area.
  • Maintaining and advancing skills in line with model manufacturing and engineering development standards.

What you will need to be successful in this role:

  • Practical experience operating and programming AM machines across DMLS/SLM, SLA, SLS, FDM, and DLP technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of additive manufacturing workflows and post-processing techniques, ideally with Metal AM experience.
  • Familiarity with practices across Model Shop, Model Build, Wind Tunnel and full-size car manufacturing.
  • Proactive, flexible approach to working hours, with the ability to travel if required.
  • Self-motivated and capable of inspiring team members.
  • Calm and confident under pressure, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Positive communicator with a respectful and collaborative mindset.
  • Results-driven and confident in decision-making.
  • Enthusiastic and adaptable, with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Clear understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety standards.

This is a full-time office-based role based at our campus in Silverstone, with additional requirement to travel to other locations where necessary.

Embark on a journey with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team to reshape history at our cutting-edge, sustainable campus in Northamptonshire.
