Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) for acute stroke care at Cheltenham General Hospital. The role covers hyperacute and acute stroke units, with a shared caseload and multidisciplinary working in a supportive team environment.

You will assess and treat post-stroke communication and swallowing disorders, contribute to discharge planning, and develop individualised treatment plans while engaging in ongoing

Qualifications

• Experience managing inpatients with post-stroke communication and swallowing disorders.
• Specialist assessment and input into discharge planning.
• Ability to create and monitor individualised treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Manage a shared caseload of stroke inpatients with complex communication and swallowing disorders.
• Provide specialist assessment of communication and swallowing difficulties and input into discharge planning.
• Create and implement individualised treatment programmes, monitoring and modification as required.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team including SLT colleagues and assistants.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues and attend shared goal planning meetings.
