Job summary

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking aHighly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist for the Acute Medicine team. You will work across Buckinghamshire in the acute SLT service, providing swallowing and communication assessments for patients admitted to Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The role includes FEES/VF instrumentation, MDT collaboration and a potential band 6/7 development pathway. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload in a fast-paced environment, supporting care

Qualifications

• Experience in acute SLT and MDT settings preferred.
• Ability to assess swallowing and communication difficulties in acute patients.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients in A&E/front-door with acute communication and swallowing issues.
• Prioritize cases by acuity in a fast-paced environment.
• Identify, diagnose and manage swallowing and communication impairments.
• Collaborate with MDT to ensure holistic care.
• Provide instrumental assessments (FEES/VF) as indicated.
• Support patient involvement in care planning and decision making.
• Take students on placement and contribute to service development.
