Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a permanent full-time Speech and Language Therapist to join the acute SLT team at Good Hope Hospital. You will work on acute in-patient medical and elderly wards, focusing on dysphagia and communication, with cross-site coverage and weekend rotas.

The role involves supervising support staff, managing your caseload, and collaborating within multi-professional teams to improve patient care in an acute setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care on acute in-patient general medical and elderly wards at the Good Hope Hospital sites.
• Assess and manage dysphagia and communication.
• Provide support to the off-site ward at the Norman Power centre.
• Manage and prioritise own caseload.
• Supervise and support therapy support workers or assistants.
• Work with other professionals across multi-professional teams.
• Take part in the weekend service and 7-day therapy rotas.
• Work cross-site if the service requires.
