Job summary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Band 7 Nurse to join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Medical Same Day Emergency Care (MSDEC). You will provide visible clinical leadership through the patient journey, from arrival onward, supporting safe and effective care.

We require expert knowledge in acute medicine, patient flow, capacity management and workforce leadership. The role involves collaboration with senior nurses, medical staff and the wider team to improve

Qualifications

• Full NMC Registration required.
• Degree or Diploma in Nursing (or Public Health).
• Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide visible clinical and professional leadership in AMU and MSDEC.
• Be professionally accountable for nursing standards within area.
• Support and develop nursing staff, promote learning culture.
• Manage patient flow, capacity, and escalation.
• Coordinate medical take and referrals from ED.
• Contribute to decisions affecting patient flow and service delivery.
• Maintain high standards of infection prevention and governance.
• Oversee budgeting and information governance with the ward.
• Collaborate with MDT to drive service improvement.
