ACUTE LIAISON TEAM MANAGER LEARNING DISABILITIES AND AUTISM

An acute liaison team manager for learning disability and autism is a qualified professional whose primary role is to lead an acute adult service and team, working collaboratively with learning disability community teams. The role involves providing care, guidance, and support based on an advanced level of knowledge to patients, carers, and health and social care professionals concerning specific diseases or conditions.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Managing and developing the team, ensuring effective deployment and supervision of staff, and coordinating services to optimize resource use.
  2. Maintaining a daily caseload of patients.
  3. Contributing to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways.
  4. Supporting the development of clinical practice through evidence-based methods aligned with national standards.
  5. Providing expert clinical advice to patients, relatives, carers, and staff on managing learning disabilities and autism.
  6. Ensuring standards and targets are met, managing complex treatment regimes, facilitating hospital discharges, and preventing avoidable admissions in collaboration with community teams.
  7. Leading clinical governance, quality monitoring, and research initiatives.
  8. Assessing patient needs autonomously, initiating investigations, and planning holistic care.
  9. Acting as a resource for multidisciplinary teams, ensuring professional standards are maintained, and monitoring care quality.
  10. Enhancing patient access to assessment and treatment, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure evidence-based, effective, and safe practice.
  11. Developing leadership skills, being accessible to staff and patients, and leading training and education initiatives.
  12. Managing mortality and LeDeR reviews in collaboration with community teams.
  13. Aligning with the trust’s vision, values, and behavioral expectations.
