Job summary

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn is seeking a clinically focused dietitian to work as part of the acute Nutrition and Dietetic Team, delivering a comprehensive dietetic service across inpatient and outpatient settings and exploring specialist areas as demand and ability allow.

Responsibilities

• Develop, monitor, review and adjust dietetic care plans against outcome measures including biochemical status, clinical symptoms, anthropometric measurements, and compliance to facilitate achievement of goals.
• Work effectively as an individual and as part of a wider multi-disciplinary and Dietetic team.
• Develop and apply a working knowledge in specialist areas (renal, oncology and haematology, gastroenterology, critical care, stroke, home enteral feeding, community) as the opportunity arises and under the supervision and support of a senior dietitian.
• To facilitate discharge planning and to liaise with other agencies as appropriate; e.g. community nursing staff, GPs and care homes and care-givers.
• To accommodate changing demands of the job by providing cover as necessary during staff absences and adapting practices as new evidence and ways of working evolve.
• Ensure that resources are used effectively and in accordance with departmental guidelines and standards.
• Develop close working relationships with the catering department to ensure correct provision of therapeutic diets to inpatients on assigned wards.
• To oversee the work delegated to Dietetic Assistants and support them as necessary
• To participate in ward rounds and multi-disciplinary meetings with support from specialist Dietitians as required.
• To actively participate in departmental and team meetings to facilitate improving practices and developing the service.
