Job summary

The Emerald Group in London is seeking an actuarial specialist to contribute to best estimate assumptions in Longevity and Protection markets, from data analysis to model validation.

You will develop GLM and Survival model approaches, challenge pricing assumptions, mentor junior team members, and present recommendations to stakeholders across the firm.

A nearly qualified or Fellow actuary with strong analytical skills and collaboration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Nearly qualified or FFA/FC/ASA status with actuarial exams in progress.
• Experience with Generalised Linear Models and Survival Models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of Longevity or Protection reinsurance markets.
• Familiarity with data sourcing, model fitting, and validation.

Responsibilities

• Develop market-leading actuarial assumptions by data analysis and modeling.
• Provide robust challenge to assumptions used by Pricing.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to explain technical recommendations.
• Support actuarial research and engage with academic partners.
• Mentor junior team members within the R&D team.
• Present findings to diverse audiences to gain approval.
