Job summary

The Emerald Group is seeking a Senior Pricing Actuary to lead pricing bases and term setting for Income Protection, Group Life, and related products. You will own pricing reviews, investigations, and adjustments, reporting to senior committees, and collaborate across underwriting, distribution and marketing.

The role requires a degree in a mathematical discipline (2:1+), a qualified actuary with post-qualification experience, and strong numeracy to analyze data and pricing models.

Qualifications

• Degree-level education in a mathematical or statistical subject (2:1 or above).
• Qualified actuary with post-qualification experience, ideally in life/health/protection insurance.
• Strong pricing experience with the ability to review assumptions and make recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the setting of central pricing bases and agree product terms across Income Protection, Group Life, Group Dependants and Group Critical Illness.
• Own and deliver pricing reviews, annual experience investigations, and recommendations for changes to pricing assumptions.
• Monitor emerging risk trends, new money rates, expenses and cost of capital, recommending pricing adjustments within risk appetite.
• Prepare reports and present recommendations to senior governance forums (Pricing Governance Group, Strategic Revenue Price Group).
• Collaborate with Financial Underwriting, Distribution, Marketing and DT&T to translate pricing insights into business decisions.
