Job summary

Nigel Sloam & Co is seeking an actuarial professional to join the team in the UK. You will perform calculations for SSASs, SIPPs and group pension arrangements, and assist with pension consultancy for individuals, including divorce scenarios and trust interests.

The role emphasizes accuracy, ongoing professional development, and expanding knowledge of the UK pensions framework, HMRC rules, and regulatory changes. Some client-facing tasks and report drafting are involved.

Qualifications

• Actuarial work requires strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Proficiency with Excel and MS Office is expected.
• Progress through core actuarial exams or exemptions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform actuarial and technical calculations for SSASs and SIPPs, DB SSASs and group pension arrangements
• Assist with actuarial calculations and advice to individuals, including pension aspects of divorce, assessment of interests under Trusts and pension consultancy
• Maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
• Develop technical actuarial analytical skills
• Support through professional exams, but also will suit someone with the core actuarial exams only
• Develop technical knowledge of the UK pensions framework, pension products, HMRC rules, regulation and legislation and keep up to date with changes
• Assist consultants with any client opportunities, including drafting letters and reports and attendance at client meetings when required
