Job summary

The Emerald Group in Edinburgh is seeking a pensions data specialist to support a range of strategic data projects, helping pension schemes understand and manage their data effectively. The role is hybrid in Edinburgh and permanent.

You will work on endgame strategies such as buy-ins and buy-outs, GMP rectifications, data cleansing for legacy schemes, and collaboration with actuarial, administration and risk transfer teams to deliver client-friendly outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering pensions data projects in a consultancy environment.
• Ability to work across actuarial, administration and pension risk transfer teams.
• Demonstrable data cleansing and legacy scheme reconstruction experience.

Responsibilities

• Support data readiness for endgame strategies (buy-ins, buy-outs, member options).
• Work on large-scale benefit rectification projects (GMP equalisation, GMP rectification, Barber window extensions).
• Undertake data cleanse projects for schemes, including legacy reconstruction and tranche-based segmentation.
• Develop internal methodologies and tools to improve project efficiency.

Job description

You will be supporting a variety of strategic data projects that help pensions schemes better understand and manage the company's data

• Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid)

Key Duties (Including but not limited to):

• Supporting data readiness for endgame strategies, including buy-ins, buy-outs and member option exercises
• Working on large-scale benefit rectification projects such as GMP equalisation, GMP rectification and Barber window extensions
• Undertaking data cleanse projects for schemes, including benefit tranching and legacy scheme reconstruction. Many of these projects are fast-paced and high-profile, providing an opportunity to work at the centre of a scheme’s strategic decision-making
• Pensions actuarial qualifications (a qualified actuary or you may have started the exams and decided not to finish)
• Demonstrable experience within a pensions actuarial consultancy, ideally with experience/exposure to pensions data projects
• Track record of cross-functional collaboration with actuarial, administration, and pension risk transfer teams to deliver integrated project outcomes.
• Experience developing internal methodologies and innovative tools that enhance project efficiency and deliver added value to clients
