Job description

Join to apply for the Activity Coordinator role at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

Hurstpierpoint Ward is seeking a dynamic and engaging Activities Coordinator to actively involve our patients in creative and recreational activities within a friendly, well-led environment.

Under the guidance of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will lead and assist in delivering activities, which may include one-to-one or group sessions, encompassing creative, social, and physical activities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with groups, be flexible, creative, and possess excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, all while championing patient care and existing schemes.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate with the MDT to plan recreational activities aligned with patient goals.
  2. Collaborate with patients and relatives to assess creative and recreational needs.
  3. Participate actively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
  4. Engage in ward team activities, including team huddles and service improvements.
  5. Present and communicate patient progress effectively.
  6. Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, including those who may be difficult to engage or pose risks.
  7. Support and encourage patients in participating in meaningful activities.
  8. Contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  9. Promote awareness and understanding of the activities coordinator role.
  10. Involve relatives in activities as appropriate.
