Job summary

Sycamore Hall Care Home is seeking an Activities Coordinator to design and deliver a diverse programme of activities that enrich residents' lives. You will work closely with the care team to tailor approaches, involve families, and maintain accurate activity records.

The role requires passion for elderly care, strong communication, DBS clearance, and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional outings and fundraising activities.

• Excellent communication and organisational skills; proactive and flexible.
• Experience in care settings and/or a qualification in remedial/occupational therapies; DBS check required.

Responsibilities

• Enrich Lives: design, plan and lead a varied programme of activities for residents, both individually and in groups.
• Community Engagement: involve families and friends; accompany residents on external outings; contribute to fundraising and budgeting.
• Collaboration & Communication: work with Home Manager and care team; maintain activity records and care plans.
• Promote Well-being: provide one-to-one companionship to residents who cannot participate in groups.
• Support & Development: supervise volunteers and junior staff; promote the home’s image within the local community.
• Safety & Compliance: follow health and safety policies; maintain confidentiality and support smooth operation.

About the role

What you’ll bring:

• We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. You'll bring proven experience in developing and delivering a diverse range of engaging activities for various individual needs.

• Your excellent communication and organisational skills will be key, alongside a proactive, creative, and friendly approach. You're a confident team player who can also work effectively on your own initiative, demonstrating flexibility in your routines.

• Previous experience in a care setting and/or a qualification in remedial or occupational therapies would be highly beneficial.

• A satisfactory DBS check will be required.

What you’ll do:

• Enrich Lives: Design, plan, and lead a varied programme of stimulating activities and events, both individual and group-based, that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our residents. You'll encourage their participation, support existing hobbies, and foster a warm, social environment.

• Community Engagement: Inspire fellow team members, residents' families, and friends to get involved in our vibrant community life. You may also accompany residents on external excursions, occasionally outside standard hours, and actively contribute to fundraising and budget management for activities.

• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Home Manager and care team, communicating changes in residents' conditions and discussing recreation therapy goals. You'll maintain accurate activity records and contribute to residents' care plans.

• Promote Well-being: Offer one-to-one companionship and comfort to residents who may be unable to participate in group activities, ensuring everyone feels valued and connected.

• Support & Development: Assist in supervising volunteers and junior staff members involved in activities, ensuring alignment with Hill Care Group policies. You'll also champion the home’s positive image within the local community.

• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety policies, report any concerns, and ensure a safe environment for everyone. You'll also maintain confidentiality and support the overall smooth operation of Sycamore Hall Care Home.
