Job summary

Sycamore Hall Care Home, part of Hill Care Group, is seeking an Activities Coordinator to design and deliver engaging activities for residents, tailored to their needs.

You will work with the Home Manager, families and volunteers to create a vibrant, inclusive community, supporting wellbeing and social connection across daily life.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering activities for older adults.
• Care setting experience and/or relevant therapy qualification is desirable.
• Satisfactory DBS check.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills with a proactive, friendly approach.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and lead a varied programme of activities for residents, individual and group based.
• Engage families and the local community; accompany residents on external excursions and assist with fundraising.
• Collaborate with the Home Manager and care team; maintain activity records and contribute to care plans.
• Provide one-to-one companionship and support residents who cannot participate in groups.

• Enrich Lives: Design, plan, and lead a varied programme of stimulating activities and events, both individual and group-based, that cater to the diverse interests and abilities of our residents. You'll encourage their participation, support existing hobbies, and foster a warm, social environment.
• Community Engagement: Inspire fellow team members, residents' families, and friends to get involved in our vibrant community life. You may also accompany residents on external excursions, occasionally outside standard hours, and actively contribute to fundraising and budget management for activities.
• Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Home Manager and care team, communicating changes in residents' conditions and discussing recreation therapy goals. You'll maintain accurate activity records and contribute to residents' care plans.
• Promote Well-being: Offer one-to-one companionship and comfort to residents who may be unable to participate in group activities, ensuring everyone feels valued and connected.
• Support & Development: Assist in supervising volunteers and junior staff members involved in activities, ensuring alignment with Hill Care Group policies. You'll also champion the home's positive image within the local community.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety policies, report any concerns, and ensure a safe environment for everyone. You'll also maintain confidentiality and support the overall smooth operation of Sycamore Hall Care Home. We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older adults. You'll bring proven experience in developing and delivering a diverse range of engaging activities for various individual needs.
• Your excellent communication and organisational skills will be key, alongside a proactive, creative, and friendly approach. You're a confident team player who can also work effectively on your own initiative, demonstrating flexibility in your routines.
• Previous experience in a care setting and/or a qualification in remedial or occupational therapies would be highly beneficial.
• A satisfactory DBS check will be required.
