Elysium Healthcare is seeking an Activities Co‑Ordinator for Farmfield Hospital in Surrey. You will coordinate social and recreational activities within a secure setting, tailoring plans to individual needs and recovery goals.

Working with a multidisciplinary team, you will develop links to community activities and assess patient interests to improve engagement and wellbeing. A range of training and wellbeing benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

• Basic group work skills required.
• Minimum 12 months experience within a mental health setting (desirable).
• Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team-based framework.
• Initiative and motivation.
• Awareness of Mental Health and its impact on functioning.
• Solution-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Good organisational skills.
• Awareness of gender-specific needs.
• Awareness of cultural needs of service users.
• Full UK Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate social and recreational activities for service users within a secure environment.
• Develop and implement a weekly activity programme across weekdays and weekends/public holidays.
• Obtain information on service users' social and recreational interests.
• Facilitate structured group and one-to-one activities.
• Encourage patient participation to support recovery and wellbeing.
• Adapt activities to varying needs (physical, cognitive, emotional, cultural, social).
• Ensure activities are inclusive and recovery-focused.
• Maintain flexibility to respond to patient interests and ward dynamics.
• Observe and report on service user behaviour and progress.

Introduction
Being an Activities Coordinator is so much more than just organising programmes. It's providing care and support to some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Working 37.5hours a week, you will join the team at Farmfield Hospital where you will create an activity-based culture, which will see you use technical and creative skills to assist in developing, delivering and coordinating programmes focused on social, recreational and leisure activities.
You will be responsible for creating 1-1 and group rapports with service users to help evolve and shape the activities to increase engagement. As you plan and implement activities around their interests, this should also have a strong emphasis on their individual needs to support the treatment plans.
Working alongside the multidisciplinary team, you will develop links with community-based resources to support service users to engage in local activities.

As an Activities Co-Ordinator you will be:

• Co-ordinating social and recreational activities for service users within the secure environment who are unable to freely access public services.
• Develop and implement a weekly programme of activities across weekdays, implementing plans to support patients have access to activities during weekends, and public holidays
• Obtaining information from service users regarding their social and recreational interests.
• Facilitate a range of structured group and one-to-one activities.
• Encourage patient participation in activities that support recovery and wellbeing.
• Adapt activities to meet varying physical, cognitive, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
• Ensure activities are inclusive, engaging, and recovery-focused.
• Maintain flexibility to respond to patient interests and changing ward dynamics.
• Observing general behaviour, ability, and response of service users and report back regularly using verbal and written communications to appropriate team members.
• Under supervision documenting observations and progress in the service user's clinical notes.
• Fulfilling the security requirements of the service and adhere to service policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Basic risk assessment on a day-to-day basis to individuals and groups of service users
• Ensuring that health and safety, welfare and security standards for service users, staff and their visitors are adhered to.
• Effective skills of co-ordination and use of resources.
• Working as part of the wider Multi- disciplinary team - which will include attending ward meetings and MDT meetings as required and contributing to [patient care planning and reviews where appropriate.

Where you will be working:
Location: Farmfield Drive, Charlwood, Surrey, RH6 0BN
You will be working at Farmfield Hospital, located next to Gatwick.
You’ll be caring for adult men 18+ who potentially have a forensic background and enduring mental health illnesses such as personality disorder, substance misuse issues and challenging behaviours.
