Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Southend-on-Sea is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels, work outdoors in all weather, and build relationships with customers on a rotating shift including weekends.

Full training, a uniform, and a Royal Mail van are provided. The role requires a full manual UK driving licence, physical fitness, and reliability for a busy, high-volume route.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (minimum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated in a busy environment
• Strong organisation and resilience with good customer focus
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area
• Build relationships with customers
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
