Job summary

Surrey Independent Living Charity is seeking a friendly, patient personal assistant to support a 13-year-old boy with a learning disability in the local community. The role is active and involves outings, shopping, and accompanying visits to attractions.

Saturday shifts are essential; the job is part-time with 2–3 days per week and shifts of 4 or 6 hours. DBS checks are required and safeguarding awareness is essential due to the age of the child.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with learning disabilities is desirable.
• Energetic, reliable, and enjoys being active in the community.
• DBS check required and safeguarding awareness is essential due to John’s age.

Responsibilities

• Support community access and shared activities.
• Go out to local shops.
• Purchase toys and DVDs.
• Visit local attractions and places of interest.
• Encourage independence, confidence and enjoyment during outings.
