Job description

Activation Executive

Location: Manchester, GB

Full Time / Part Time: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent

Based at Manchester City’s CFA HQ, this permanent full-time role will help create memorable fan experiences across matchdays at the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium, as well as non-matchday events in the UK and selected global markets. You will play a visible part in bringing activations to life for our men’s, women’s and Academy fixtures, while helping more fans connect with the Club.

Who We Are

Manchester City is a football club rooted in East Manchester, with a story that began in 1880 and continues to grow today. Built on resilience, belief and togetherness, success on the pitch is driven by the moments and memories shared with millions of f ans around the world. City is known for its bravery, its determination to the very end and its strong connection to where we come from. With Mancunian roots and a global outlook, we are shaped by our f ans and driven by a long-term vision, from developing future talent to supporting the communities we call home. Together, we are creating the next chapter, the City way.

Within our Events and Activations Team, we design and deliver experiences that make matchdays and wider Club events meaningful, welcoming and memorable. From junior fan experiences and brand ambassador programmes to stadium and non-matchday activations, the team helps bring Manchester City closer to supporters across our men’s, women’s and Academy fixtures.

The Role

As Activation Executive, you will support the ideation, planning and delivery of fan experiences that enhance the matchday journey and help the Club reach new audiences. You will take ownership of key initiatives while contributing to the wider activations programme, ensuring every experience is thoughtfully planned, well run and aligned with the Club’s brand and commercial objectives.

A significant part of the role will be managing the Playmakers matchday ambassador team, including onboarding, training and briefing colleagues so that fan engagement is consistent, welcoming and delivered against agreed measures. You will also lead the delivery and ongoing development of the Man City Kids Fanzone, while creating new experiences for different fan groups across matches at the Etihad Stadium and Joie Stadium.

You will work closely with colleagues and suppliers to support activations at women’s and Academy fixtures, stadium events and selected domestic and global opportunities. The role includes matchday and non-matchday operational and administrative support across the season, with the flexibility to work weekends and evenings when required, including at home fixtures and some domestic away matches.

What You’ll Bring
  • Experience coordinating live events, activations or operational delivery, with a practical focus on creating positive audience experiences.
  • Experience supervising, briefing or supporting a team, with the ability to organise people and activity around clear priorities.
  • Knowledge of relevant event safety guidance, including the Green Guide, Purple Guide, health and safety responsibilities and safeguarding.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, to organise information, plan activity and communicate clearly.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, suppliers, stakeholders and fans.
  • Commitment to working matchdays, including weekends and evenings, and flexibility to support home fixtures and occasional domestic away matches.
Why Choose Us

Working at Manchester City means being supported to do your best, with the flexibility and encouragement to look after your wellbeing. We are committed to helping our people learn, grow and thrive in a culture built on collaboration, openness and hard work.

  • 26 days’ annual leave plus a day off for your birthday, private healthcare and dental cover, and an annual discretionary bonus.
  • Health Cash Plan, Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 GP support, and a company pension and life assurance.
  • Manchester-based employees also benefit from free on-site parking, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and access to a range of sports and leisure clubs.
  • You can enjoy a range of additional benefits, including cycle to work, Give As You Earn, discounted match tickets, savings in the City Store, a free City+ subscription, stadium tour discounts, and wider retail and lifestyle offers.
