Acting Fashion and Beauty Assistant (Fixed Term Contract - 6 Months)

About The Role

The Fashion and Beauty Assistant plays an integral role in The Telegraph's award-winning fashion team, responsible for picture research, creating galleries, assisting with styling daily content, while supporting the fashion and beauty editors on a fast-moving desk.

The ideal candidate will have a strong visual sense, organisational skills and an enthusiasm for creating fashion and beauty content across all platforms. Stylist assisting experience and the ability to write confident, clean copy is also a must, as the Fashion and Beauty Assistant will need to prepare for shoots, create galleries and write occasional articles.

Balancing these editorial responsibilities with administrative tasks - supporting the busy department with payments, booking and forward planning - is key to success in this role.

Key Skills

• Must have relevant experience of digital publishing platforms and social media.

• A knowledge of key fashion events and a network of contacts with fashion and beauty PR

• A confident, calm manner in dealing with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.

• Highly organised, enthusiastic and diligent.

Key Responsibilities

Styling

  • Assisting Style Editor on fashion and beauty features as required
  • Call ins and returns
  • Liaising with the picture editors to book studios/ photographer/ HMU
  • Managing interns in the fashion cupboard

Galleries
  • Supporting the fashion week team rolling blog with picture research and gallery creation.
  • Working with the team to create galleries for Awards season as required

Shopping
  • Supporting Style Editor curating shopping for Telegraph Mag style pages
  • Adding to fashion and beauty features where necessary

Picture research
  • For the majority of fashion and beauty features
  • For merch, ensuring imagery is high quality and saved with the correct credits

Instagram
  • Supporting the Fashion Team's social strategy creating social posts (ideally 2 posts a day) using Later.com
  • Using the departmental phone for collab posts and video
  • Liaising with contributors for collab posts

EIS Payments
  • For all fashion and beauty freelancers
  • Newsroom support group

Fashion Week
  • Hotel booking
  • Travel booking
  • Taxis to and from airport/ Eurostars
  • Schedules for Milan and Paris
  • Head of Fashion's expenses
