Acting Fashion and Beauty Assistant (Fixed Term Contract - 6 Months)

The Fashion and Beauty Assistant plays an integral role in The Telegraph's award-winning fashion team, responsible for picture research, creating galleries, assisting with styling daily content, and supporting the fashion and beauty editors on a fast-moving desk.

The ideal candidate will have a strong visual sense, organisational skills, and enthusiasm for creating fashion and beauty content across all platforms. Stylist assisting experience and the ability to write confident, clean copy are essential, as the Fashion and Beauty Assistant will need to prepare for shoots, create galleries, and write occasional articles.

Balancing these editorial responsibilities with administrative tasks—such as supporting the busy department with payments, booking, and forward planning—is key to success in this role.

Key Skills
  • Relevant experience with digital publishing platforms and social media.
  • Knowledge of key fashion events and a network of contacts within fashion and beauty PR.
  • Confident, calm manner when dealing with stakeholders at all levels, internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities
Styling
  • Assist Style Editor on fashion and beauty features as required.
  • Manage call-ins and returns.
  • Liaise with picture editors to book studios, photographers, and HMU artists.
  • Manage interns in the fashion cupboard.
  • Support the fashion week team with picture research and gallery creation.
  • Collaborate with the team to create galleries for awards season.
Shopping
  • Support Style Editor in curating shopping content for Telegraph magazine style pages.
  • Contribute to fashion and beauty features as needed.
Picture Research
  • Conduct research for fashion and beauty features.
  • Ensure high-quality imagery is saved with correct credits.
Instagram
  • Support the fashion team’s social media strategy by creating posts (ideally 2 per day) using Later.com.
  • Use the departmental phone for collaboration posts and videos.
  • Liaise with contributors for collaborative posts.
EIS Payments
  • Manage payments for all fashion and beauty freelancers.
Fashion Week
  • Arrange taxis to and from airports and hotels.
  • Coordinate schedules for Milan and Paris fashion weeks.
  • Handle the Head of Fashion’s expenses.
