Job Description:

Actemium specializes in the bespoke design and fabrication of process-related projects, working to and operating under BS EN1090 classifications. We are looking to appoint a competent TIG Pipe Welder to join our team.

Your duties will include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings or product specifications, including understanding welding symbols to determine build sequence, methods of fabricating & assemblies.
  • Layout and mark dimensions and reference information on material.
  • Completing weld set-ups and welding using TIG and Orbital welding equipment.
General responsibilities:
  • Follow company rules and adhere to procedures & Health and Safety standards.
  • Perform coded 6G TIG welding, including welding of stainless and carbon steel tube/pipe to radiograph standards.
  • Execute positional welding on pressure vessels, pressure parts, and superheater pipework.
  • Work between workshop and site to deliver projects as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to produce orders on time.
  • Ensure tolerances and parameters meet quality and output standards.
  • Prepare and process materials prior to assembly.
  • Check products for compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Follow established quality control procedures and documentation standards.
  • Check welding plant/equipment before and after use, reporting faults to the Fabrication Shop Supervisor.
  • Ensure production timings are met.
  • Reinstate the work area following engineering activities.
The Person:
  • Previous qualifications/codings in 6G/equivalent.
  • Experience performing welding operations to radiographic standards.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Experience working on various material gauges with single and multi-run welds.
  • Additional fitting experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently from start to project completion.
Skills:
  • Welding to radiograph standards, completing pipe codings as required; weld trade tests will be x-rayed.
  • Proficiency with various fitting & fabrication techniques.
  • Safe use of associated equipment including abrasive wheels and grinders.
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Ability to work safely with minimal supervision.
Qualifications (Desirable):
  • Time-served apprenticeship.
  • City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3 or BTEC ONC equivalent qualification.
  • NVQ Level 3 in fabrication & welding / plating & welding.
