Job summary

Target Integration Ltd. is seeking an Acquisition Safety & Environment (ASEP) Engineer to support Land Systems programmes within a highly regulated defence environment. The role focuses on safety engineering activities, safety assurance, hazard analysis, and safety documentation.

Location is MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol, with hybrid work (2-3 days onsite). Duration ASAP to 31 March 2027; Active SC clearance is required.

Qualifications

• STEM qualification at RQF Level 4 or above.
• Active SC Clearance required.
• Professional registration as IEng or RSci.
• Experience delivering Safety Engineering outcomes in regulated environments.
• Defence or MOD environment experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Generate, review, and maintain technical safety requirements and safety documentation.
• Develop and manage Safety Management Systems and Safety Assurance Plans.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation activities.
• Produce and maintain safety cases, hazard logs, and safety artefacts.
• Provide technical safety engineering advice to project teams and decision-makers.
• Support safety verification, validation, testing, and evaluation activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety legislation, policies, and engineering standards.
• Present safety recommendations and findings to Project Safety Panels.
• Manage contractor-delivered safety activities and requirements.
• Support equipment disposal and decommissioning safety activities.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Acquisition Safety & Environment (ASEP) Engineer to support Land Systems and Platforms programmes within a highly regulated defence environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safety engineering activities, safety assurance, hazard analysis, and safety documentation while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate, review, and maintain technical safety requirements and safety documentation.
• Develop and manage Safety Management Systems and Safety Assurance Plans.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation activities.
• Produce and maintain safety cases, hazard logs, and safety artefacts.
• Provide technical safety engineering advice to project teams and decision-makers.
• Support safety verification, validation, testing, and evaluation activities.
• Ensure compliance with safety legislation, policies, and engineering standards.
• Present safety recommendations and findings to Project Safety Panels.
• Manage contractor-delivered safety activities and requirements.
• Support equipment disposal and decommissioning safety activities.
• STEM qualification (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) at RQF Level 4 or above.
• Extensive experience delivering Safety Engineering or Acquisition Safety Engineering outcomes.
• Experience developing safety cases, safety assurance activities, and Safety Management Systems.
• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk mitigation.
• Ability to provide technical safety advice in highly regulated environments.
• Professional registration as either:
• Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or
• Registered Scientist (RSci)
• Active SC Clearance.

Preferred Experience

• Defence or MOD environment experience.
• Land Systems or Platform programmes.
• Safety assurance and compliance management.
• Working with Project Safety Panels.
• Test, verification, validation, and evaluation processes.
