Job summary

Evodia Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Lead Safety Engineer to support defence programmes. The role offers hybrid working with travel to defence sites, including MOD Abbey Wood, as required.

You will provide safety leadership across Maritime, Air, and Land projects, lead hazard analyses and safety cases, and drive assurance activities to ensure ASEMS and MOD compliance.

Active SC clearance is required; Chartered status or progression toward registration is preferred.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in System Safety Engineering within defence or regulated environments.
• Proven track record delivering Acquisition Safety in defence programmes.
• Strong understanding of hazard analysis, safety cases, risk management, and safety management systems.
• Experience leading safety assurance activities across multiple systems or projects.
• Knowledge of UK defence acquisition processes, ASEMS, and relevant legislation.

Are you an experienced Safety Engineer with a passion for supporting UK defence programmes? We're working with a trusted client to find SC cleared Lead Safety Engineers for an exciting, high-profile project. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with travel to key DE&S sites, including MOD Abbey Wood and other UK defence establishments, as needed.

What’s on offer?

• Duration: Typically 3 to 5 months, with potential for extension based on programme needs
• Day Rate: Up to £805 per day (Inside IR35)
• Location: Hybrid, with travel to defence sites across the UK
• Clearance: Currently SC clearance required, within the last 6 months

What we’re looking for

• Experience leading safety assurance activities across multiple systems or projects
• Knowledge of UK defence acquisition processes, ASEMS, and relevant legislation
• Degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field, with professional membership (e.g., IMechE, IET, RAeS)
• Chartered status (CEng or IEng) or progress towards registration is preferred
• Must hold an active SC security clearance
