ACCURACY CHECKING TECHNICIAN (Pharmacy)

BASED: POLAR SPEED UPS, 7 CHARTMOOR ROAD, SITE 1 LEIGHTON BUZZARD, BEDFORDSHIRE, LU7 4WG

HOURS: 37.5 - MONDAY - FRIDAY

SALARY: £31,600 - £32,548 P/A - Dependant on experience

JOB ROLE

Polar Speed has a reputation for quality, compliance, operational and customer facing technology and monitoring solutions in the growing temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical logistics market in the UK. The company specialises in active temperature-controlled deliveries to hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers and medical care surgeries as well as to end patients which it serves through its homecare business. Its customers include some of the best known pharmaceutical brands in the world.

As an Accuracy Checking Technician working within the in-house pharmacy you will be responsible for providing accurate final checking on homecare prescriptions, providing technical dispensing assistance to the Responsible Pharmacists.

Working 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 0800 and 1800 on a split shift basis, you must be flexible and prepared to work additional hours as and when required to meet our service requirements which may be of an urgent medical nature.

Minimum Requirements: NVQ Level 3 qualification is essential for this role.

For successful Accuracy Checking applicants, Polar Speed will process basic disclosure criminal record checks.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Comply with all required GPhC standards for registration as an Accuracy Checking Technician.
  2. To carry out final checking of dispensed items in accordance with approved protocols and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  3. Supervise and participate in the dispensing and supply of medical products in accordance with the requirements of: The Medicine Act, Medicines, Ethics and Practice guide, Good Distribution Practice.
  4. Ensure all activities meet and integrate with Quality Management Systems, Health and Safety requirements, COSHH regulations and environmental policies.
  5. Actively drive the Clinical Governance standards within the Pharmacy services.
  6. Assist in all regular performance audits.
  7. Actively participate in the training and development of the Pharmacy team.

Specialist Knowledge:

  1. NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services Skills.
  2. Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council.
