Job summary

Isle of Wight NHS Trust is seeking a Full-time trainee clinical coder to join our dedicated coding team. The role requires a methodical and detailed approach and a passion to continue learning within the NHS environment.

The successful candidate will work with ICD-10, OPCS-4 and HRGS, ensuring high data quality and accurate coding to support funding and patient care. Training, mentoring and a supportive team are provided.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Excellent IT and computer literacy.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and analyse complex clinical information from patient records.
• Apply ICD-10 and OPCS-4 coding rules to assign accurate codes.
• Support audits, training and mentoring within the coding team.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding standards and NHS guidelines.
