Overview

More and more established and start-up technology-based companies are entering the rail technology market, either as retailers with a Ticket Issuing System (TIS), as system suppliers, or as service providers.

Simultaneously, there is an increasing demand for skilled assurance guidance from Train Operating Company (TOC) partners, Rail Delivery Group (RDG) colleagues, existing TIS providers, prospective and established retailers, industry bodies, and government agencies.

Role Purpose

On behalf of the TOCs and RDG, your role will be to support and guide internal and external colleagues, partners, and stakeholders in fulfilling their accreditation obligations. You will work within our accreditation team to check and validate rail retailing systems within our accreditation scope. Your contact points will include:

  • Public internet retailers
  • Internal functions such as Project Teams, Marketing, Retail Partnerships, Service Delivery, and Retail Strategy
  • Technology suppliers
  • Service providers
  • TOCs
  • Industry bodies (rail and non-rail)
Key Responsibilities

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Conducting testing activities related to evidence checking for accreditation.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships, providing guidance, support, and escalation where necessary, and participating in resolution processes.
  • Producing detailed documentation, obtaining client approvals, and updating tools like ASSIST/JIRA for audit trails and accreditation decisions.
  • Reviewing complex technical documentation and writing compliance reports.
  • Verifying evidence compliance with industry standards and data accuracy.
  • Contributing to technical standards reviews and ensuring retail systems meet operational and approval conditions.
  • Developing and updating test plans and testing libraries.
  • Extracting and analyzing data for compliance and accuracy.
  • Maintaining records for audit purposes.
  • Acting as a liaison during the accreditation process.
  • Recording accreditation activities for billing purposes.
Candidate Requirements
  • Enthusiastic, analytical, and capable of working to tight deadlines while providing guidance and support.
  • A technical background is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience reviewing system documentation from TIS suppliers and understanding system functionalities and updates.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder environments, managing relationships, and working within a risk-based approach.
  • Ability to identify gaps, seek clarifications, and produce accurate compliance reports.
  • Knowledge of evidence review against industry standards and understanding of the impact of non-compliance.
  • Understanding of the SDCI+ language, XML, CTR data, and industry systems like RARS and LSM.
  • Ability to handle multiple work packages simultaneously and maintain accurate data records.
  • Knowledge of UK rail retail is advantageous.
