Job summary

Ellacotts Accountants in Birmingham is seeking an experienced accountant to join the Corporate Team. You will prepare statutory and unincorporated client accounts and tax computations, meeting deadlines while identifying opportunities for additional services.

You will liaise with clients to gather information and ensure accuracy. With a minimum of two years in a practice environment and experience with Xero, you will handle chargeable time and contribute to a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years proven accounts preparation experience within a practice environment.
• Experience with cloud accounting software such as Xero.
• Ability to prepare incorporated and unincorporated accounts quickly and efficiently and related tax returns.
• Excellent problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare client accounts (statutory and unincorporated), tax returns (Corporation tax and partnership business tax computations) to meet deadlines.
• Identify points for manager or partner to raise with clients and to raise potential for additional services.
• Finalise paperwork for dispatch to client or HMRC.
• Liaise with client to obtain relevant information for their accounts, ensuring attention to detail and effective questioning.
• Monitor own job quality and quantity in line with agreed budgets.
• Record own chargeable time and ensure maximum recovery.
• Attend courses appropriate to the role to develop skills.
• Assist clients with ad hoc book-keeping queries and other business-related matters.
