Job summary

EQ Accountants, part of the Sumer Group, is seeking an Accounts Senior to operate at Controller level. You will own technical delivery, guide junior team members, and support clients with confidence across accounts and tax. You’ll review and coach colleagues, contributing to advisory projects and trusted client relationships.

You’ll develop client relationships, manage portfolios, and supervise juniors while ensuring high-quality work and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Full or part qualified (ACCA, ICAS or equivalent).
• Strong technical grounding across accounts, tax and audit.
• Proficient with accounting, tax and audit systems.
• Commercially minded with understanding of client business contexts.
• Organised with ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong and lasting relationships with clients, understanding their needs and becoming a trusted advisor.
• Manage a client portfolio, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
• Plan and manage tax engagements, providing strategic advice and reviewing juniors' work.
• Oversee preparation and review of client accounts, support decision-making and contribute to advisory work.
• Supervise and mentor junior colleagues, ensuring quality and knowledge sharing.

We’re looking for an Accounts Senior to operate at Controller level, taking ownership of technical delivery, guiding junior team members and supporting clients with confidence. You’ll act as a key point of contact for clients, while ensuring high quality, technically sound work is delivered across accounts and tax.
