Job summary

Trial Balance in Burnham-on-Sea is seeking an experienced Accounts Senior to join their growing team. The role offers a broad mix of accounts and tax work with a modern, progressive environment and flexible working arrangements.

You will prepare and review statutory accounts, CT and personal tax returns, VAT, and manage a client portfolio while mentoring junior colleagues and liaising with Partners. This position supports both part-time and full-time hours with a friendly, supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience gained in an accountancy practice with strong accounts and tax grounding.
• Ability to deal directly with clients and manage workload in a busy environment.
• A proactive, open-minded approach and willingness to embrace new technology.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory accounts for clients (limited companies, partnerships, sole traders).
• Prepare corporation tax and personal tax returns and related computations.
• Complete and review VAT returns.
• Manage a portfolio of clients and act as a key point of contact for their accounting requirements.

Trial Balance are delighted to be working with a forward-thinking accountancy practice in Burnham-on-Sea, looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Senior to join its growing team. This is a great opportunity for a practice accountant who enjoys a broad mix of accounts and tax work and wants to develop within a modern and progressive environment.

As Accounts Senior, your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
• Preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns and associated computations
• Completing and reviewing VAT returns
• Managing a portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact for their accounting requirements
• Building strong working relationships with clients and providing practical advice and support
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Working closely with the Partners and wider team to ensure assignments are completed accurately and efficiently
• Contributing ideas to improve processes and make better use of technology across the practice

The successful Accounts Senior will:

Have solid experience gained within an accountancy practice, with a strong technical grounding across accounts and tax.

ACA or ACCA qualification would be advantageous, although applications are welcomed from part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates with the right level of experience. You'll be confident dealing directly with clients, well organised and comfortable managing your own workload within a busy practice environment.

An open-minded approach will be important, as will a willingness to embrace new technology and look for more effective ways of working.
