Job summary

Hawthorne-Finch Talent Solutions is seeking an Accounts Semi Senior in Preston to support year-end work for varied clients and develop technical foundations across statutory accounts and VAT. The role trains alongside a supportive team and offers clear progression paths.

You will prepare year-end accounts, assist with corporation tax and VAT, and manage daily client tasks while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism in a busy practice.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified AAT/ACA/ACCA or equivalent, or actively studying towards qualification.
• 3 to 4 years’ experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Confident client-facing communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong Excel skills and good general Microsoft Office capability.
• Excellent organisation and time management, able to handle multiple deadlines.
• High levels of confidentiality and a professional, ethical approach.

Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
• Supporting the preparation of corporation tax computations and returns.
• Preparing VAT returns and assisting with related queries.
• Managing day-to-day client tasks, ensuring work is accurate, compliant and delivered on time.
• Communicating with clients professionally by phone and email, gathering information and resolving queries.
• Working closely with senior colleagues to meet agreed timelines and budgets.
• Contributing to team improvements and efficient workflows.
• Keeping your technical knowledge up to date and meeting CPD requirements.

Accounts Semi Senior

Location: Preston

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 per annum

Experience: Part-qualified AAT, ACA or ACCA (or equivalent), with 3 to 4 years’ UK practice experience

The Role

This is a great opportunity for an Accounts Semi Senior to join a supportive accounts team, working on a varied portfolio and building strong technical foundations across year-end accounts and VAT.

You will support the wider team in preparing financial statements (including micro-entity and FRS reporting where applicable) and completing VAT returns, while developing your skills and progressing your career within practice.
