Job description

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Finance team. You’ll be keen to hit the ground running, firstly gaining an in-depth knowledge of our processes and then moving on to overseeing the AP team. You’ll be happy getting your hands dirty and mucking in with whatever problem needs solving that day and building a fantastic team around you.

Key responsibilities in this role

1. Department management

  • Review KPIs to prioritise workload for the team of 3-4 people
  • Management and development of team members
  • Maintain a culture of high-quality outputs, which for us includes adhering to existing process guidelines, ensuring all invoices are captured in a timely fashion, and that all invoices are approved ready to be paid on time
  • Find inefficient processes and make them better
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through timely and direct feedback
  • Oversee the relationship with our biggest suppliers, stepping in to help resolve any issues if required
  • Support the team in liaising with different departments within SportPursuit to approve invoices
  • Act as a key contact for the Owned Brand team to ensure we have visibility of upcoming orders and are able to make payments on time

3. Manage payment runs and cash management

  • Review all payment runs each week (2 per week)
  • Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure we have the right funds in the right currency for each payment run
  • Monitor and forecast cash and Trade Finance balances to ensure we are making optimal use of facilities
  • Maintain the Owned Brand hedging schedule, liaising with the FC to ensure the required hedges are made at the correct time.

4. Wider finance team

  • Work within the Finance team to push forward departmental goals and make our Finance team a great place for everyone to work
  • Assist with year end audit tasks which relate to Accounts Payable (e.g. supplier statement reconciliations and providing invoices for audit samples)

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Experience supervising an AP team
  • A good understanding of stock invoices and matching them to ERP systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English language
  • Good organisation and prioritisation, with an ability to set and stick to tight deadlines

  • AAT or equivalent accounting qualification
