Job summary

Mitchell Adam is recruiting an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist for a Birmingham City Centre organisation. You will own the day-to-day AP function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and supplier payments are made on time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Accounts Payable Specialist to join a well-established and growing organisation based in Birmingham City Centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has developed a strong background within Accounts Payable and is now looking for a role offering greater responsibility, ownership, and the opportunity to make a genuine impact within a busy finance function.

Working as a key member of the finance team, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently, supplier payments are made on time, and the purchase ledger remains well maintained and fully reconciled. You will oversee the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve queries, investigate discrepancies, and ensure processes are followed consistently.

You will play an important role in maintaining strong supplier relationships, supporting month-end close, assisting with payment runs and reconciliations, and identifying opportunities to improve processes and introduce greater efficiencies. With exposure to senior finance stakeholders and the opportunity to influence how the function operates, this is an excellent role for an experienced AP professional looking to take the next step in their career.

Skills Required

• Previous experience working within an Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger, or Accounts Assistant position, with strong knowledge of the end-to-end purchase-to-pay process and confidence operating at a senior level.
• A proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to identify process improvements, introduce efficiencies, and contribute ideas that improve the overall performance of the Accounts Payable function.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and ensure financial information is processed accurately.
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, work to strict deadlines, and remain calm and accurate within a fast-paced finance environment.
• A positive and collaborative approach, with the ambition to develop your career and play an active role within the wider finance team.
