Accounts Payable Assistant

Location: Eurocentral, Motherwell, ML1 4WR

Salary: Up to £35,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday

We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable Assistant to join a large and well-established civil engineering contractor based at Eurocentral, Motherwell.

This is an excellent permanent opportunity for an experienced finance professional looking to join a busy and fast-paced accounts team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounts payable and previous payroll experience.

The Role

As Accounts Payable Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger and wider finance function, ensuring supplier invoices, payments and payroll-related information are processed accurately and efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and on time
• Matching invoices against purchase orders and resolving discrepancies
• Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
• Reconciling supplier statements and investigating outstanding items
• Responding to supplier and internal payment queries
• Setting up and maintaining supplier accounts
• Assisting with month-end accounts payable processes
• Supporting payroll processing and administration
• Checking payroll information, timesheets and associated documentation
• Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring appropriate approvals are in place
• Liaising with colleagues, suppliers and operational teams across the business
• Providing general support to the wider finance team as required

About You

To be considered for this role, you should have:

• Previous experience within an Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger position
• Previous payroll experience
• Strong numerical and reconciliation skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems
• The ability to manage a busy workload and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A proactive and professional approach to your work

Experience within construction, civil engineering or a similar fast-paced contracting environment would be advantageous, although not essential.
