Sewell Wallis is currently supporting a fast-paced South Yorkshire retailer in Barnsley to recruit an Accounts Payable and Receivable Officer for the finance team. You will manage a varied transactional workload with accuracy and attention to detail.

You’ll process supplier invoices and credit notes, reconcile statements, oversee purchase ledgers, and assist with month-end activities and financial reporting as your experience grows.

Competenze

• Strong Excel skills with SUMIFS and XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP.
• Good understanding of purchase ledger processes and supplier invoices.
• Attention to detail and accurate financial record-keeping.

Mansioni

• Perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Process supplier invoices and credit notes, match PO and goods receipts.
• Reconcile monthly supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
• Review POs, set up supplier accounts and verify bank details.
• Review credit card expenditure and ensure proper coding.
• Support month-end processes: accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, reconciliations.
• Assist with financial analysis and management accounts as needed.
• Gain exposure to audit and VAT processes.

Sewell Wallis is currently working with a fast-paced South Yorkshire retail business that is now looking for an Accounts Payable and Receivable Officer to join their finance team in Barnsley. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in getting the detail right and is confident managing a varied transactional finance workload.

You’ll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day finance function, taking ownership of Accounts Payable and Receivable, while also having the chance to be involved in month-end processes and financial reporting.

What will you be doing?

• Performing daily reconciliations of company bank accounts
• Processing supplier invoices and credit notes, matching invoices to purchase orders and goods received, and maintaining an accurate purchase ledger.
• Obtaining and reconciling monthly supplier statements, investigating disputed invoices and liaising with suppliers to resolve queries.
• Reviewing and monitoring purchase orders and setting up new supplier accounts, ensuring bank details are verified in line with company procedures.
• Reviewing credit card expenditure and ensuring expenses are correctly coded and supported by the appropriate documentation.
• Supporting month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, fixed asset accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assisting with financial analysis, reporting and the preparation of management accounts as your experience develops.
• Gaining exposure to audit and VAT-related processes while continuing to develop your technical accounting knowledge.

What skills are we looking for?

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including the confident use of SUMIFS and XLOOKUP and/or VLOOKUP.
• A good understanding of purchase ledger processes, supplier invoices and payment runs.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Strong communication skills
