EQ Accountants, part of the Sumer Group, is seeking an ambitious Accounts Manager to become a trusted advisor to a portfolio of clients in Melrose. You will blend accounting, tax planning and advisory services to meet client goals and deliver clear, practical guidance.

In this role you’ll build strong relationships, oversee annual accounts and tax returns, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with a supportive team within our growing practice.

Qualifications

• Part or fully qualified in a professional accountancy and or tax qualification.
• Solid experience within a similar role within an accountancy practice.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, taxation and financial management.
• Build trust with ease, communicate with clarity and take genuine pride in seeing your clients succeed.
• Proficient in accounting and tax software.
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to share knowledge and support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Build strong and lasting relationships with a diverse portfolio of clients
• Understand client goals and challenges, proactively offering solutions that add value
• Organise and attend client meetings to best understand their needs
• Oversee client accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery of services – this includes the preparation and review of annual accounts, tax returns and one off advisory projects
• Support and mentor junior team members
