Job summary

Clark Wood are recruiting an Accounts Manager in Harrogate for a growing chartered accountants practice. You will manage a portfolio of owner‑managed businesses and SMEs, preparing statutory financial statements, management accounts and personal tax returns, and reviewing VAT returns.

You’ll supervise junior staff, review work, and provide business advisory support while developing client relationships and ensuring high service standards.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA qualified, finalists considered.
• Experience managing a client portfolio in an accountancy practice.
• Strong accounts and tax knowledge with reviewing work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review statutory financial statements, management accounts and personal tax returns.
• Review and submit VAT returns.
• Attend client meetings and provide accounting and business advice.
• Supervise, mentor and develop junior team members.
• Review work and allocate assignments.
• Support forecasting, business projections and wider advisory work.

Accountancy Practice recruitment specialists Clark Wood are working with a highly regarded and expanding firm of chartered accountants who are looking to recruit an Accounts Manager to join their growing team in Harrogate.

The Role

You will manage a portfolio of predominantly owner-managed businesses and SMEs, with responsibilities including:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements, management accounts and personal tax returns
• Reviewing and submitting VAT returns
• Attending client meetings and providing accounting and business advice
• Supervising, mentoring and developing junior team members
• Reviewing work and allocating assignments
• Supporting forecasting, business projections and wider advisory assignments

About You

• ACA / ACCA Qualified – Finalists will also be considered
• Previous experience managing a client portfolio within an accountancy practice
• Strong accounts and tax knowledge, with experience reviewing workExperience with cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Confident providing advice to owner-managed businesses and SMEs
• Ambitious and keen to progress within a growing practice
