Job summary

Autograph Recruitment in Yeovil is seeking an Accounts & Bookkeeping Advisor to join a well-established practice. The role involves accounts, bookkeeping, VAT and tax with regular client contact.

You will prepare year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, manage monthly bookkeeping, VAT returns, and bank reconciliations, and assist with onboarding and service improvement. The team values accuracy, reliability and a proactive approach to client service.

Qualifications

• Experience in accountancy practice or similar environment.
• Experience across accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT.
• Personal or business tax experience is beneficial; training can be provided.
• AAT or similar qualification would be advantageous, though QBE candidates will be considered.
• Experience with Xero or similar cloud accounting software.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Excellent organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Accounts & Bookkeeping Advisor - Yeovil | £30,000-£36,000 DOE

I'm currently recruiting for an Accounts & Bookkeeping Advisor to join a well-established accountancy practice in the Yeovil area.

This is a really varied role, ideal for someone with accountancy practice experience who enjoys working across accounts, bookkeeping, VAT and tax and having regular contact with clients.

The role will involve:

• Preparing year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Preparing personal and/or business tax returns, depending on experience
• Monthly bookkeeping for a varied portfolio of clients
• Sales and purchase ledger processing
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• Journals, accruals, prepayments and depreciation
• Preparing VAT returns
• Liaising directly with clients and helping to ensure deadlines are met
• Supporting new client onboarding and wider practice activities
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and client service

They're open to candidates at different stages of their career. Ideally, you'll have a good grounding across accounts, bookkeeping and VAT, but they would also consider someone with strong practice experience in one or two areas who is keen to broaden their skill set.
