Job summary

Morgan McKinley Northern Home Counties is partnering with a growing business to recruit an organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant based in Luton. You will support a broad range of accounting activities, from transactional finance to reporting, within a supportive finance function.

The role offers exposure across the finance function and a clear pathway to develop technical knowledge and advance your accounting career. A proactive, accurate approach and good communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate has prior Accounts Assistant or similar finance role experience.
• Experience in an accountancy practice is desirable, particularly year-end accounts, VAT returns, payroll, HMRC liaison.
• Pursuing AAT/ACCA/CIMA is welcomed; degree in Accounting/Finance acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Allocate daily cash and ensure accurate recording of transactions.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Review monthly P&Ls and investigate discrepancies.
• Process purchase orders, staff expenses, mileage claims and commissions.
• Produce and analyze reports on subcontractors, site spend and consumables.
• Assist with accruals, prepayments, fixed assets and intercompany transactions.
