Job summary

IVES RECRUITMENT SOLUTIONS LTD is seeking an Assistant Accountant for their Luton office. The role covers transactional accounting and monthly accounts, reporting to the Financial Controller, with autonomy and a broad remit across financial and management accounting tasks.

The ideal candidate will have prior Assistant Accountant experience, be comfortable with invoicing, reconciliations, and month-end processes, and possess strong IT skills including Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant role.
• Xero experience is advantageous; strong Excel skills are essential.
• Able to manage a varied workload and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Handle transactional finance including invoicing and reconciliations.
• Manage balance sheet and cash flow; perform journals, accruals and prepayments; assist with month-end accounting and controls.

This is a newly created role where you will be given autonomy and get involved in a broad range of financial and management accounting duties. You must be prepared to cover the transactional accounting work as well as the preparation of monthly accounts.

Reporting to their established and supportive Financial Controller, you will be responsible for all aspects of transactional finance including invoicing and reconciliations. You will manage the balance sheet and keep control of cash flow; as well as journals, accruals and prepayments, month end accounting and ensuring financial controls are adhered to.

The role requires someone with strong organisation skills, an eye for detail and someone who can manage a varied workload and keep to tight deadlines.

Skills required:

• Previous experience within a similar Assistant Accountant role
• AAT/Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA preferred but not essential.
• Strong IT and systems skills - Xero highly advantageous and strong Excel skills essential.
• The ability to communicate effectively across the business and with external parties.
• Attention to detail, meticulous and able to manage a varied workload.
