Artemis Human Capital is recruiting an Accounts Assistant for a leading agri-food business based in Belfast. You will support three Accountants in a busy finance function, handling VAT, reconciliations and month-end tasks while developing your accounting and reporting experience in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers hybrid working, broad exposure across the accounting cycle, and the opportunity to contribute to robust financial controls within a growing company.

Qualifications

• Around five years’ experience in an Accounts Assistant, Accounting Technician or similar finance role.
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles and month-end processes.
• Previous experience preparing VAT returns and completing bank reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.
• Proactive and team-oriented approach with willingness to support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with current legislation and internal deadlines
• Complete daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations across multiple accounts, investigating and resolving reconciling items
• Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments
• Process and reconcile company credit card transactions, ensuring accurate coding and supporting documentation
• Assist with month-end close activities, helping to ensure reporting deadlines are achieved
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure the integrity of accounting data
• Support the continuous improvement of financial processes and internal controls
• Work closely with the wider finance team, providing support across a variety of accounting and reporting activities
• Assist with financial reporting requirements and other ad hoc finance duties as required
• Contribute to the efficient operation of the finance function through a proactive and collaborative approach

We are delighted to be recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a leading business within the agri-food and animal nutrition sector based in Belfast.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant or Accounting Technician looking to join a well-established and growing organisation. Working as part of a collaborative finance function, you’ll provide day-to-day support to three Accountants while taking ownership of a broad range of accounting responsibilities that are critical to the smooth running of the finance department.
