Accounts Assistant Role Overview
NC Associates are working with an established SME based in Deeside who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on a permanent basis.
This is a genuinely varied, all-round accounts role where you’ll work closely with the Finance Manager, supporting with the day-to-day running of the finance function.
You’ll be responsible for a range of transactional accounts duties, including purchase ledger, credit control, reconciliations and general finance administration. It’s a great opportunity for someone who enjoys having a bit of variety in their day and wants to be involved across the accounts function rather than being restricted to one area.
Accounts Assistant Responsibilities
- Processing purchase invoices and maintaining the purchase ledger
- Matching invoices to purchase orders and dealing with supplier queries
- Preparing and processing supplier payments
- Managing the sales ledger and raising customer invoices
- Carrying out credit control and following up outstanding customer balances
- Allocating customer payments and keeping account records up to date
- Completing regular bank and account reconciliations
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with month-end processes and reporting
- Maintaining accurate financial records across the accounting system
- Supporting with VAT and other finance administration
- Assisting the Finance Manager with day-to-day accounting tasks
- Providing cover and support across the wider finance function when required
- Assisting with general office and finance administration
- Supporting with ad-hoc finance projects and reporting
Accounts Assistant Experience Required
- Previous experience within an accounts or finance role
- Good understanding of transactional finance
- Experience with purchase ledger and/or sales ledger
- Previous credit control experience
- Confident completing bank and account reconciliations
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience using accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Well organised with the ability to manage your own workload
- Comfortable working in a small team environment
- Good communication skills and a professional approach
- Someone who is happy to get stuck in and support across all areas of the finance function
