Job summary

Smarkets is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team in a dynamic, startup-like environment. You will support AP processing, reconcile bank statements, and prepare reports for internal and regulatory purposes, working closely with auditors and senior finance staff.

  • Degree in Accounting or related business field - desirable but not essential.
  • Have worked or are curious to work in an agile, start-up like environment.
  • Have experience or are keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team/across different teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process AP invoices.
  • Review and reconcile bank statements on a regular basis to ensure accuracy.
  • Perform AP balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Review and manage open Purchase Orders.
  • Ensure all supplier accounts are reconciled against supplier statements.
  • Schedule and process payments per company policy.
  • Manage vendor payment queries.
  • Process staff expenses and approvals.
  • Monitor daily cash flows, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operations.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to regulated gaming authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Support monthly Management Accounts and journal entries.
  • Assist with financial audits.

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our growing Finance team. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of a small team of four. To thrive at Smarkets, you will need to be open-minded, personable, and have a keen eye for detail, with the ability to analyze and communicate insights from data.

What you will do:
