The Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team at BGI. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys the pace of multi-entity finance work, has solid experience in accounting, and understands the complexities that come with supporting businesses in the construction space.

Key Duties

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of sales and purchase invoices across multiple entities.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and manage day-to-day cashbook entries.
  • Support monthly management accounts preparation, including accruals and prepayments.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and liaise with suppliers to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and assist with year-end audits.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team and contribute to ongoing process improvements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and clients as required

What we’re looking for:

  • AAT Level 3 or higher (or equivalent qualification) – required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a finance/accounts role, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Sound knowledge of CIS regulations and processing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, QuickBooks) and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
