Job summary

Major Recruitment is assisting an established Aberdeen firm to appoint an Assistant Manager - Accounts & Business Advisory. You will lead a varied client portfolio from planning through to near-completion and build strong client relationships while mentoring junior team members.

The ideal candidate is ACA/ACCA/CA qualified with 2–3 years PQE in practice, and has solid UK GAAP/FRS 102 knowledge, VAT experience, and a proactive advisory mindset in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA/ACCA/CA with 2-3 years post-qualification experience.
• Experience in an accountancy practice is essential.
• Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP/FRS 102.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of accounts and compliance assignments from planning to near-completion.
• Prepare and review statutory and management accounts for diverse clients.
• Prepare and review VAT returns, ensuring compliance and advisory opportunities.
• Review tax computations and coach juniors, providing feedback.
• Maintain client relationships and lead meetings with business owners and finance contacts.
• Identify technical issues and escalate to the Manager when needed.
