Job summary

Lancashire Renewables Ltd is seeking an Accounts Administrator to maintain and reconcile purchase and general ledger accounts, administer payroll, and support the Finance Department. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team.

The ideal candidate will have an AAT Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience, strong knowledge of the financial cycle, and hands-on experience with CODA or similar systems.

Job description

What you’ll be doing

The Accounts Administrator will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within our organisation. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining and reconciling purchase and general ledger accounts, administering payroll functions, and providing essential support to the Finance Department. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

What you will bring

To be successful in this position it is essential that you have an AAT Level 3 qualification or the relevant experience in a similar role.

You must be able to demonstrate the following experience, skills and knowledge:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the financial cycle and associated finance duties
  • Experience working with financial systems, such as CODA or similar
  • Understanding of segregation of duties, governance, and internal controls
  • Knowledge of the procure-to-pay process
  • Proficiency in financial processing, including purchase ledger, payroll, and general ledger
  • Strong IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
  • Ability to prioritise workloads effectively in line with business demands
  • Proven understanding of finance principles, supported by relevant practical experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
The following skills and knowledge are desirable, however successful candidates will be supported through role‑specific training and must be willing to undertake any training required for the role:
  • Awareness of industry‑specific legislation and relevant compliance standards
  • Experience supporting or assisting with external audits
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.

Who are we?

Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract.

Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill.

Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non‑biodegradable household waste and our people are vital in helping us achieve this.
